Social media users play true detective in #TorontoTunnel mystery

TORONTO – Police are asking for the public’s help after a “mystery” tunnel was discovered near a Toronto Pan Am Games venue in January.

Investigators said Tuesday the tunnel was discovered in a “heavily wooded area” south west of the Rexall Centre on the York University campus last month — the location where tennis will be played during the Pan Am Games.

Police believe the 33-foot-long tunnel was built by more than one person but, at this point in time, don’t believe there is any criminal activity involved.

“We’re not done with the forensic aspect of the investigation yet,” said Toronto Police deputy chief Mark Saunders. “There is nothing to suggest this is criminal. We want to find out who built this and why.”
