Journalism fellowships: apply soon

Deadlines for quite a number of journalism fellowships are coming up in the next month or two. Here is a roundup I updated from a list created last year by ONA. Notes: funds are in U.S. unless otherwise stated. Not all fellowships may be open to Canadians.

Google Journalism Fellowship
Targeting U.S.-based students with an interest in journalism, this fellowship includes a week at the Knight Foundation and a week at Google, split between Google News and YouTube.
Deadline: January 31, 2014

Nieman-Berkman Fellowship in Innovative Journalism
For journalists and those who work for news organizations who are interested in conducting research or working on a project related to journalism innovation.
Deadline: January 31, 2014

Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship
Open to journalists with at least five years of experience, this fellowship includes extensive travel and a $70,000 stipend for U.S. fellows (stipends for international fellows vary).
Deadline: February 1, 2014

Joan Shorenstein Center Fellowship at Harvard
For domestic or international journalists, scholars and/or policymakers who are interested in the influence of the press on public policy and politics. It comes with a stipend of $30,000.
Deadline: February 1, 2014

The Fellowship in Global Journalism
Targeting non-journalists and early-career journalists who cover international issues, this unique program from the Munk School of Global has a strong mentorship component.
Deadline: February 10, 2014

Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy
For leading Canadian journalists to investigate a current policy issue and write a series of articles for publication in the Toronto Star. Includes stipend of $75,000 (Canadian) plus expenses.
Deadline: February 14, 2014

Persephone Miel Fellowship
Open to journalists and media professionals outside the U.S. who seek to report from their home country.
Deadline: February 14, 2014

World Press Institute Fellowships
For international journalists with at least five years experience, this fellowship provides an immersion experience in the U.S.
Deadline: February 15, 2014

AP Google Journalism and Technology Scholarship
Aimed at students working at the intersection of journalism and technology, this scholarship (now in its final year) will provide $20,000 to six students for the 2013-14 academic year.
Deadline: February 21, 2014

Knight Science Journalism Fellowships at MIT
For mid-career journalists, this nine-month fellowship includes a $65,000 stipend.
Deadline: February 28, 2014

Massey College Fellowships
Open to Canadian and international mid-career journalists who wish to spend eight months broadening their horizons at University of Toronto campus. Includes travel expenses and up to $58,800 (Canadian).
Deadline: March 1, 2014

Edward R. Murrow Press Fellowship
For journalists who have covered international news, this is a nine month fellowship at the Council on Foreign Relations headquarters in New York.
Deadline: March 1, 2014

Poynter Naughton Fellow
This entry-level position gives recent college graduates an opportunity to work with Poynter for a year.
