Fallen journalists: remembering those who died while reporting

Journalism is a dangerous profession. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, the profession recently reached a grim milestone worldwide: as of August, more than 1,000 journalists have been documented by CPJ as having died in direct relation to their work since 1992. That includes Bill Biggart, who died 12 years ago during the attacks of Sept. 11.

A terrible stat from the CPJ: Over time, about one journalist is killed every week.
